Men's Track & Field Dominates for 6th Consecutive ODAC Title

Harrisonburg, Va. — The University of Lynchburg men's track & field team corralled 249 points en route to its sixth consecutive Old Dominion Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships team title at Eastern Mennonite University, while the women's team secured second place with 151.5 points behind Washington & Lee.

On the men's side, the Hornets produced the fourth-highest team total in ODAC history, led by Lamont Victoria's first-place performances in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash and 4x100-meter relay.

The Lynchburg men's team won nine of the 20 events and posted championship records in the 100m and 5,000-meter run. For the women's team, an athlete scored inside the top eight finishers in 19 events.

Men's Championships

Tallying four podium finishes, Lamont Victoria contributed 28 individual points to pair with the team's 4x100m relay victory. The senior clocked 10.51 in prelims for the ODAC Championships record, followed by a first-place 10.55 in finals. Victoria registered 21.48 to earn the 200m title, along with clearing 6' 9¾" in the men's high jump to finish second.

The Hornets also solidified victories in every track event above the 800-meter run, as four different Hornets earned individual titles throughout the distance slate.

Alex Jordan paced to a championship record in the men's 5,000m, clocking 14:38.31. Teammate Chasen Hunt (14:39.01) placed second, while Aidan Riggle (14:55.91) and Cameron Sidebotham (15:08.66) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

Hunt won the men's 1,500-meter run with a 3:56.09 performance, as Jordan (3:56.73) and Danny Rickey (3:57.11) rolled to second and third-place personal bests.

Alex Paciello rattled off a furious 63-second final lap to earn the ODAC title in the men's 10,000-meter run with a 32:56.39 result. Paciello moved up several positions in the final 200 meters, while Aidan Riggle crossed the line in second (32:57.19). Draven Fernandez clocked a 60-second final trip around the oval for 32:57.83.

Josh Fretwell earned his first conference title in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a 9:53.12 performance, winning the event by six seconds.

To round out the committee effort, six Hornets funneled into the top 10 of the men's 800m, led by Matthew Kane's 1:55.10 personal best for second. Ryan Warner rounded out the podium with a third-place finish of 1:55.40.

The men's 4x100m relay clocked 41.41 to retain last year's conference crown, while the 4x400m team placed second behind Roanoke with a 3:20.85 showing.

In field events, Jamarcus Brown earned his second ODAC title in the men's high jump with a 6' 11" (2.11m) clearance. Throughout the outdoor season, Brown has claimed four top-five finishes when competing in the high jump.

Bronson Andrasz cleared the 15-foot mark for the first time in his collegiate career in the men's pole vault, elevating to a first-place 15' 3" (4.65m) performance for his first conference title.

Micah Leech claimed a pair of top-five finishes, beginning with a second-place personal-best mark of 171' 3" (52.20m) in the men's javelin. Leech also finished third in the men's triple jump, registering a 45' 1¾" (13.76m) leap.

Demetri Hinton moved into second for the triple jump competition with a 46' (14.02m) mark. In the men's long jump, Ty Mauer's fourth-place leap of 23' 3¼" (7.09m) would have represented the 24th-best mark in Division III heading into the weekend.

Women's Championships

On the track, the 4x100-meter relay headlined the women's team's 151.5-point effort to finish second in the team standings, with the Hornets capturing first place in a 47.40 effort. With the win, Lynchburg occupies the 23rd-fastest time in DIII, while the top 16 teams qualify for the NCAA Championships.

Kacey Kelly soared into second on the NCAA qualifying list, crushing the competition for an individual ODAC title in the women's triple jump. The senior registered a 40' 2" (12.24m) mark, which was the furthest since her third-place performance at the 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships.

Haylee Smith improved her javelin mark by a meter to win the women's competition with a 131' 11" (40.21m) mark. Kelly also placed second in the women's javelin throw (131' 1" or 39.97m) and women's long jump (18' 1" or 5.51m).

In the women's 400-meter run, Kaitlyn Ruiz clocked the 26th-fastest time in DIII for second place behind Washington & Lee's Jesma Evans. Ruiz posted 56.41 in finals after clocking 56.84 in prelims.

Three individuals claimed podium finishes in the women's long-distance events, with senior Delaney Saulsbury leading the charge with a second-place 39:02.45 season best in the women's 10,000m. Adelynn Carpenter finished third in the women's 5,000m (18:12.06), while Winter Tietjen placed third in her second collegiate women's 3,000m steeplechase appearance (11:47.73).
