Forest, Va. -- Following a four-goal performance across two triumphs this past week, University of Lynchburg men's soccer student-athlete Jefferson Lopez Coreas was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday.

Lopez Coreas paced the Hornets' offense that scored nine goals in back-to-back competitions. Lynchburg took down Maryville (TN), 4-0, then routed Covenant, 5-0. Lopez Coreas was the first goal scorer in both of those affairs.

In the matchup against Maryville, the junior forward netted one in the 21st minute, then put another one past the keeper just 10 minutes later. Both were assisted by Noah Coughlin. Lopez Coreas stayed hot against Covenant, scoring a solo goal just before the 10-minute mark. He later opened up the second half with his final goal of the weekend in the 47th minute.

The Woodbridge, Va. native ranks 28th across all of DIII in total goals this season after his consecutive braces this past weekend. Additionally, he is 56th in the country in goals per game this season with a .80 average, which is fourth-best in the ODAC.

The men's soccer team is set for its sixth road contest of the season against Mary Washington on Wednesday, September 16 at 4 p.m. before its home opener against Hope on Saturday, September 19 at 2 p.m. on Shellenberger Field.
