GRANVILLE, Ohio -- The University of Lynchburg women's golf team finished ninth at the Lynn Schweizer Invitational, wrapping up the two-day tournament Sunday at Denison Golf Club at Granville.
The Hornets posted a two-round total of 687 (+107), improving by five strokes in the final round. Lynchburg opened the tournament with a 348 (+56) before carding a 339 (+51) on Sunday.
Grace Saunders led the way for Lynchburg, tying for 17th individually with a 160 (+15). After shooting an opening-round 84, Saunders made an eight-stroke improvement in the second round, firing a 76 (+4) to climb the leader board.
Kelsey Jones finished tied for 35th at 167 (+22), recording rounds of 84 and 83. Madison Bartra followed in 53rd with a 179 (+34) after rounds of 89 and 90, while Eliza Rademaker finished 55th at 181 (+36) with rounds of 91 and 90. Olivia Radford rounded out the Lynchburg lineup, tying for 60th at 187 (+42) after shooting 95 and 92.
Washington University in St. Louis captured the team title at 23-over, narrowly edging Randolph-Macon by one stroke.
The Hornets resume their fall slate in Farmington, Pa. at the Nemacolin Resort for the Tartan Invitational, starting on Saturday, Sept. 27.
