Box Score No. 13 Hornets Field Hockey drops match to No. 6 Lebanon Valley
LYNCHBURG, VA - The No. 13 Lynchburg College field hockey team could not overcome the ferocious offense of No. 6 Lebanon Valley as the Flying Dutchmen beat the Hornets 4-1 on Shellenberger Field.
Lynchburg (1-1) played even with the Flying Dutchmen for the first twenty minutes of the first half, but Lebanon Valley forward Allison Bicher netted her first goal at 11:21.
Going into halftime the Hornets were down by only one, but Bicher scored 1:11 into the second half to put the deficit at two. Sophomore Caitlin Vasey also scored two in the second half to put Lynchburg down 4-0 with nine minutes left in the game.
The Hornets came back with a goal from freshman Hayley Stough (Richmond, VA/James River) who scored on a goal off of a pass from teammate Jordan Warrington (Ocean View, DE/Indian River). Lynchburg goalie Tiffany Frye (Williamsburg, VA/Bruton) finished the match with nine saves.
The Hornets will host Denison University Sunday at noon on Shellenberger Field.
