Lynchburg College Hosts 2011 Sprint, Jump, Throw Challenge
Lynchburg, VA – The Lynchburg College men's and women's track and field teams competed at the 2011 Sprint, Jump, Throw Challenge on Wednesday held at Wake Field House.
For the women, senior Shawn Jackson (Virginia Beach, VA/Floyd E. Kellam) placed first for LC in the 400m with a time of 1:10.77. Freshman Caitlin Walton (Richmond, VA/Mills E. Godwin) jumped for 10'4" in the pole vault. In the long jump, freshman LaCear Hubbard (Madison Heights, VA/Amherst County) finished first with 5.29m while freshman Candice Hairston (Midlothian, VA/Manchester) was second with a jump of 5.14m. LaCear Hubbard also competed in the triple jump where she hit 10.21m. Senior Ashley Allen (Richmond, VA/Hermitage) placed second in the weight throw with a toss of 14.66m.
On the men's side, junior Evan Ellison (Atlanta, GA/McCallie) ran the 55m dash in 6.63 seconds. In the 200m dash sophomore Dakota Pellman (Lynchburg, VA/Heritage) finished first place with a time of 24.15 and junior Mark Chauteh (Falls Church, VA/Bishop O'Connell) was right behind him in second with a time of 24.39. Freshman Trevor Huntsman (Cooperstown, NY/Vermont Academy) ran the 400m dash in 58.78. Freshman KeDarrius Bruce (Palmyra, VA/Fluvanna County) hit 6.58m in the long jump and freshman Demetrius Irving Jr. (Madison Heights, VA/Amherst County) jumped for 12.99m in the triple jump. Senior John Michael Pavia (Forest, VA/Jefferson Forest) threw for 16.08m in the weight throw.
The Lynchburg College track and field teams will travel to Landover, MD to participate in the Maryland Invitational at Prince George Complex on Saturday, January 22.
