LC Women Breeze by Ferrum 8-0
LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College women's tennis team faced off against Ferrum College at home on Monday and captured an 8-0 win.
Senior Clare Wallendjack (Kensington, MD/Walter Johnson) and freshman Casey Moore (Salem, VA/Glenvar) won 8-5 at #1 doubles. Moore also won 6-4, 6-1 at #3 singles. Sophomore Susanna Jones (North, VA/Matthews) teamed up with sophomore Jeannine Malay (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) and won 8-5, while Jones had a 6-3, 6-0 win at #2 singles and Malay had a 6-1, 6-2 win at #5 singles. Junior Gretel Coleman (Bedford, NY/The Harvey School) and freshman Hailey Bettencourt teamed up to win 8-5 at #3 doubles. Coleman also had a 6-0, 6-2 win at #6 singles. Senior Bridget Rachwal (East Aurora, NY/East Aurora) captured a 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (10-8) victory at #4 singles.
The Hornet women (2-5/1-5 ODAC) will be back in action on Sunday at 2 p.m., traveling to face Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opponent Emory and Henry College.
