Two Provisional Qualifying Marks Set at LC Track Classic

LYNCHBURG, VA – Two NCAA Division III provisional qualifying marks were set Saturday as the Hornets hosted the annual LC Track and Field Classic.
Senior Krystle Landes (Staunton, VA/Wilson) threw 39.45 meters in the javelin to qualify provisionally for national competition, as did fellow senior Ashley Allen (Richmond, VA/Hermitage) in the hammer with a heave of 48.03. She also set the school record in the shot put with a throw of 12.10 meters. Naomi Tice (Houston, TX) ran a 2:24.81 in the 800 meters, while Christina Washington (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook) finished the 400 in 58.14. Mel McFayden (Ipswich, MA/Ipswich) ran a 1:05.23 in the 110-meter hurdles and Jessica Gibbs (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) leaped 5.33 meters in the long jump.
Rachad Davis (Virginia Beach, VA/Ocean Lakes) ran a personal best of 15.15 in the men's 110-meter high hurdles and John Michael Pavia (Forest, VA/Jefferson Forest) threw 52.38 in the hammer. Evan Ellison (Atlanta, GA/McCallie) won the 400-meter dash in 50.26, while Shawn Minor (Powhatan, VA/Powhatan) and Tristen Boysaw cleared distances of 6'6 ¾" and 6'2 ¼", respectively, in the high jump. Curtis Whitlow (Forest, VA/Jefferson Forest) finished the 800 meters in 1:58.19 and Daniel Cutright (Montpelier, VA/Louisa County) ran a personal-best of 9:48 in the steeplechase.
Lynchburg is back in action in two weeks at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference outdoor Championships.
