LC Women Defeated by Southern Virginia 8-1

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College women's tennis team faced off against Southern Virginia University on Tuesday at home, in non-conference play, and lost 8-1.

The Hornets were able to take #1 doubles as senior Betsy Stipa and junior Melissa Drinkard teamed up to defeat Maren Connolly and Lauren Morrison of Southern Virginia 8-6.

Junior Hailey Bettencourt took one set at #5 singles and took the second and final set to a tiebreaker before losing a close match 1-6, 7-5(13-11), while junior Madison Dixon won seven games at #3 singles.

The Hornet women (0-1) will be back in action on Friday, October 4 when they will compete in the first day of the Methodist University Fall Invitational.
