LC Women's Tennis Wins 7-1 Over Averett University

DANVILLE, VA – The Lynchburg College women's tennis team traveled to face off against non-conference opponent Averett University on Thursday, and defeated the Cougars 7-1.
Junior Betsy Stipa and sophomore Melissa Drinkard won at #1 doubles, while junior Ari Peikin and sophomore Madison Dixon competed at #2 doubles, winning 8-0. Junior Kelsey Bergen teamed up with sophomore Catherine So to take an 8-0 victory at #3 doubles.
Stipa notched a 6-0, 6-2 victory at #2 singles and Dixon was successful at #3 singles, winning 6-1, 6-0. Peikin took #4 singles 6-0, 6-0, while Bergen won at #6 singles. So competed at #5 singles and was up 6-0, 5-0, but the match was not finished.
The Hornet women (1-0) were set to face off against non-conference opponent Greensboro College on Saturday, February 23, but the match was moved to a future date due to expected weather in the Lynchburg area. LC will have its first Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) matchup on Saturday, March 2 at home against Hollins University at noon.
