LC Men Drop Hard Fought Match to Roanoke 5-4

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College men's tennis team fought hard at home against Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opponent Roanoke College on Thursday, but lost 5-4.

The Hornets started off the day strong, winning two out of the three doubles matches, with Derek Kegerreis and Owen Landon winning 8-3 at #2 doubles and Tyler Long and Matt Karvelas winning at #3 doubles 8-3.

Karvelas also competed at #1 singles and captured a tough 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 victory over Matt Kessler. The other win for the Hornets came from Josh Johnson at #3 singles. Johnson, battling through an injury, notched the hard fought match 6-2, 6-4. Johnson overcame a 15-40 deficit in the final game of the second set to seal the win.

The Hornet men (3-4) will be back in action on Friday, when they will face off against ODAC opponent Randolph College at home at 3:30 p.m.
