Hornet Women Drop Match to Guilford 7-2
GREENSBORO, NC – The Lynchburg College women's tennis team traveled down to North Carolina on Saturday to take on the Quakers of Guilford College in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) matchup, and were defeated 7-2.
Senior Betsy Stipa was able to pick up a 0-6, 6-2, 6-1 win at #2 singles, while freshman Kelsey Krisik was victorious at #6 singles, winning 6-1, 7-6(2). Senior Melissa Drinkard had a hard-fought match at #1 singles, but could not quite pull it off against Haley Andrews of GC, dropping the match 2-6, 6-4, 7-5. Junior Madison Dixon battled at the #4 singles spot, coming up just short against Madison Giles 4-6, 7-6(8) 10-8.
LC was not able to pick up a win on the doubles side of the court, but continued to fight hard. Drinkard and Stipa teamed up at #1 doubles and were able to win four games, while Krisik and junior Hailey Bettencourt won three games at #3 doubles.
Lynchburg (0-2/0-2 ODAC) will be back in action on Sunday in their first home match of the year, as they get set to face off against Salem College in non-conference play.
