Dutchmen Take Advantage to Down Hornets
LYNCHBURG, VA – The 20th-ranked Lynchburg College field hockey team came up short in today's home matchup as Lebanon Valley College continues their undefeated season with a 3-1 win over the Hornets.
Maddie Fox scored the first goal of the game for Lebanon Valley with an assist from Kelsey Heck 25 minutes into the game.
Katie Kline evened the game with a goal only 28 seconds into the second half with a quick restart and pass from Kelsey Link.
The tie did not hold for long when Molly Van Leuvan came into the game off the bench to score the Dutchman's second goal and take the lead four minutes later. Lauren Brumbach provided the third goal for Lebanon Valley not long after that.
Lynchburg had its opportunities late in the game but was unable to find a way to score as Lebanon Valley (5-0) held on to win its fifth straight game.
Penalties may have hurt the Hornets today as they played 27 minutes with one less player throughout the span of the game.
Beka Hess and Sarah Suter combined for nine saves in goal for the Hornets, while Lebanon Valley's goalie Kendra Moll also saved nine.
Lynchburg (2-3) looks to rebound tomorrow afternoon as they host Dickinson College.
