Women's Tennis Competes in 5-1 Loss to Sweet Briar

AMHERST, VA – The Lynchburg College women's tennis team fought hard in each set that was completed Wednesday afternoon before falling 5-1 to Sweet Briar College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action.

Melissa Drinkard teamed with Catherine So to collect the Hornets' lone point on the afternoon, downing the No. 1 doubles team of AJ Lukanuski and Gina Rutledge in convincing fashion, 8-4.

A highlight of the match came from the No. 5 singles spot where Megan Tillou was competing in her first collegiate match. After falling 6-1 in the first set, Tillou fought back to take three games in the second set.

"I was nervous at first but Coach Manilla really gave me the support and confidence I needed," Tillou said after the match.

Lynchburg (0-5/0-3 ODAC) plays host to Guilford College Saturday in a match set to start at 3 p.m. on the E.C. Glass High School courts.
