Hornets' Doubles Push E&H to the Brink

EMORY, VA – The Lynchburg College #1 and #2 doubles teams nearly pulled off the upsets against Emory and Henry College, as the Wasps won the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) 5-0 on Sunday.

Melissa Drinkard and Jerica Simmons combined at first doubles for only the second time this year, and nearly took it.  They won five games before falling to the Wasps' Stella Di Michele and Danielle Amoruso.

In the two spot, Katie Kline and Kelsey Dowling teamed for the first time this year and won three games before falling.

"The doubles matches today were very fierce and competitive and I was very proud of the character that our team portrayed," stated Head Coach Josef Manilla.  "They represented Lynchburg College very well and I couldn't be more impressed with the team's culture."

Dowling and Simmons were both winning their singles matches when they were called.

Lynchburg (0-7, 0-5) will have the whole week to prepare for its next match.  LC will head to fellow ODAC member Virginia Wesleyan College (6-3, 4-1), with the doubles set to start at 2 p.m.
