LC Field Hockey Breaks Two-Year Drought against Lebanon Valley with 3-0 Win
SHIPPENSBURG, PA – The Lynchburg College field hockey team won its 2015 season opener on Tuesday afternoon with a 3-0 win over Lebanon Valley College.
The Dutchmen have handed the Hornets losses each of the last two seasons, but LC was out for revenge in the neutral site contest held at Shippensburg University.
A competitive and physical start led to good opportunities for both teams, but Morgan Lammando and the Hornets were the first to score as she delivered a strike a few minutes before the end of the first half. Following the break, Alyssa Mills found the corner of the net at the 48:14 mark to extend the lead 2-0. Five minutes later Megan McAnally scored to increase the Lynchburg lead to three and give LC a cushion to finish off the game.
Goalkeeper Beka Hess made four saves on the afternoon and, with the help of her stout defense, held the Dutchmen scoreless.
LC will have their first home game of the season on Saturday as they host Stevenson University as part of the ODAC Challenge at 11 a.m.
