Hornet Women's Tennis Cruises to 9-0 win at Ferrum
FERRUM, VA – The Lynchburg College women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 win Sunday at Ferrum College, in a match postponed from last Friday. It is the first career win for LC head coach Josef Manilla and the first victory for the Hornet women's program since the spring of 2014.
Freshman Erika Hadland scored a 6-3, 6-2 win at #1 singles and joined fellow freshman Lilli Altenburg at #2 doubles for an 8-0 win. Kelsey Dowling won 6-2, 6-1 at #2 singles, Sarah Wyly dropped just four games in posting a win at #3 and Altenberg won 6-3, 6-3 at #4. Valeria Erostegui and Jerica Simmons dropped only one game apiece en route to wins at #5 and #6 singles, respectively.
Dowling and Wyly earned an 8-5 victory at #1 doubles and Erostegui and Simmons defeated their Ferrum adversaries 8-2.
The Hornets (1-1) conclude their fall season Saturday at Randolph College at 3 p.m.
