LC Women's Tennis Opens Spring Season with 7-2 win over SBC

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College women's tennis team opened its spring season Friday afternoon with a 7-2 win over Sweet Briar College in non-conference play on the LC Courts.

Hornet #1 singles player Erika Hadland earned a 6-2, 6-0 win and teamed with Lilli Altenburg for a 9-8 (7-5) victory at #2 doubles. Sarah Wyly scored a win at #3 singles and Kelsey Dowling dropped just four games in a victory at #4. Altenburg and Jerica Simmons cruised to wins at #5 and #6 singles, respectively.

Simmons and Wyly defeated their Vixen opponents 8-0 at #3 doubles.

"We have a very young team, so it was really good for us to get some match experience," said head coach Josef Manilla. "This win will give us confidence going into next week."

Lynchburg (2-2) hosts Southern Virginia University Wednesday at 2 p.m.
