LC Women's Tennis Nearly Upsets Bluefield

BLUEFIELD, VA –The Lynchburg College women's tennis team nearly pulled off an upset Wednesday at Bluefield College, but fell 5-4.

The Hornet #2 doubles team of Erika Hadland and Sarah Wyly trailed 0-3 but fought back to go ahead 7-6 with two match points. The Bluefield #2 duo took the next two points but Hadland and Wyly again bounced back for a 9-7 victory.

Hadland captured five games at #1 singles and Kelsey Dowling and Jerica Simmons had default wins at #5 and #6 singles. Lilli Altenburg and Dowling also had a default victory at #3 doubles.

The Hornets (4-4) return to Old Dominion Athletic Conference play this Saturday. LC travels to Guilford College for a match at 2 p.m.
