Hornet Women's Tennis Rolls to 8-1 win over So. Virginia
LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College women's tennis team swept all three doubles matches and five of the six singles flights Wednesday en route to its second-straight victory – an 8-1 win over Southern Virginia University.
Freshman Erika Hadland scored a 6-2, 6-1 win at #1 singles and teamed with Kelsey Dowling at #2 doubles for an 8-5 victory. Sarah Wyly and Dowling each dropped just three games in wins at #3 and #4 singles, respectively. Lilli Altenburg and Jerica Simmons had straight-set victories at #5 and #6 singles.
Simmons and Valeria Erostegui fought to a 9-7 win at #1 doubles while the #3 team of Wyly and Altenburg won handily 8-0.
The Hornets (3-2) have already matched the top win total in a season for the team in the last three years. LC opens the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) season Saturday against Washington & Lee University at home at noon.
