LC Women's Tennis Defeated by Roanoke 8-1

LYNCHBURG, VA –The Lynchburg College women's tennis team was defeated by a strong Roanoke College squad Saturday, 8-1 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action.

Hornet freshman Lilli Altenburg scored a hard-fought win at #4 singles over Roanoke's Kaity Diskerud 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 10-6. Jerica Simmons battled to three sets at #6 singles, but fell 6-3, 1-6, 10-5 and Kelsey Dowling won seven games at #5.

Valeria Erostegui and Altenburg captured four games at #3 doubles.

The Maroons climb to 8-1 in league play and are now 11-9 overall.

Lynchburg (9-8/3-4 ODAC) hosts its third match in as many days Sunday, as Shenandoah University (8-4/3-4 ODAC) will battle the Hornets at 11 a.m. in an important match in the conference standings.
