From the Face-Off
The Hornets faced off on Shellenberger Field against the Sewanee (Tn.) on a beautiful Friday night. The game was the first of the weekend for Lynchburg who will travel to defending ODAC Champion Washington and Lee on Saturday.
Game Breakdown
- Freshman midfielder Kevin Rogers got the Hornets going early with the assist coming from senior midfielder Daniel Owens with just 36 seconds after the opening whistle
- Owens scored the next goal for Lynchburg on an assist from senior midfielder Chris Camarca to give the Hornets a 2-1 lead
- The teams would then trade goals with Camarca tallying for the Hornets and Jimmy Parker scoring for the Tigers
- The Hornets would score the next three goals to take a 6-2 lead into the second quarter
- Sophomore attackman Logan Adams scored on a fast break goal on an assist from sophomore attackman Andrew Thomas to open the scoring in the second quarter
- Thomas and Camarca both scored on assists from junior Colin McGuire to finish the first half with a 9-3 lead
- Sophomore attackman Evan Lombardo scored an unassisted goal two minutes into the third quarter and sophomore midfielder Rivington Lambert scored just 18 seconds later to give the Hornets an 11-3 lead
- Sewanee then began to chip away at the lead with Peter Brown scoring three straight goals and assisting on a Will Pratt goal to bring the score to 11-7 at the end of the third quarter
- Lombardo got the Hornets back on the board off of a nice cross crease pass from Thomas in transition two minutes into the fourth quarter
- Rogers would score his second goal of the day on an extra man opportunity to push the score to 13-7 with 12 minutes remaining in the game
- Peter Brown would answer for the Tigers scoring unassisted for his fourth tally of the game
- The Lynchburg defense did not allow another goal for the final ten minutes of the game
- Lombardo found the net for his third foal of the game on an assist from Adams with 8:35 remaining
- Thomas found the back of the net on an assist from Freshman Attackmen Colin Dean to push the score to the final of 15-8
