Harris wins lone point in women's tennis' loss

Fayetteville, N.C. -- The Lynchburg College women's tennis team was outmatched in Saturday's spring season opener, toppling 8-1 to regionally ranked Methodist on the road.

Top singles player Christina Harris (Falls Church, Va.) stood out for the Hornets, though, as the standout sophomore dominated MU's Jenna Landis, 6-2, 6-0, for Lynchburg's lone point in the dual.

Harris and her partner, sophomore Halle Lavieri (Killingworth, Conn.), played a tough match at No. 1 doubles and managed to take several games before falling, 8-4, at the hands of the Monarchs' Davi Barbour and Riley Zopp.

Juniors Sarah Wyly (Leesburg, Va.) and Reagan Coon (Churchville, Va.) also played well at No. 2 doubles but were defeated, 8-3, by Landis and partner Audrey Greeson.

Lynchburg will return home on Sunday, Feb. 18 for the first home match of 2018, taking on Ferrum at 1 p.m. at the Crosswhite Athletic Club.
