HOW IT HAPPENED

The two teams battled back and forth for the first nine minutes of play before sophomore guard Luke Romeo (Cary, N.C.) knocked down a pair of 3-pointers in a 30-second span to give LC a 19-13 lead. Lynchburg extended the advantage to 22-15 after Case's 3 with 9:20 until halftime, but Roanoke responded with a 9-0 run to take a lead of its own.

The two teams battled into intermission tied at 35-35, Case's triple with 8 seconds left in the half tying the score.

The Maroons pieced together a 14-6 run early in the second half to take control of the game, and Roanoke maintained control the lead throughout the period. Lynchburg cut the lead to eight on two occasions -- first with Case's 3-pointer with 11:13 remaining and later after a pair of Schroeder free throws with 10:54 left -- but Roanoke used a 13-4 run to make the lead comfortable and led by double figures the rest of the way.

LOOKING BACK

The Hornets finish the season with a 15-12 mark, the program's seventh-straight winning season. Lynchburg made its mark from long range in 2017-18 with three of the ODAC's top seven 3-point percentage, and Schroeder currently leads the conference with 73 makes from deep. Schroeder's first-team all-league nod marks the third-straight seasons a Lynchburg player has been named to the first team.
