Women's tennis wins third straight on Hilton Head

Hilton Head Island, S.C. -- Lynchburg College's women's tennis team extended its win streak to three matches Friday afternoon with an 8-1 dispatching of Eastern Nazarene in their final dual of the Spring Tennis Fest at the Hilton Head Racquet & Beach Resort.

After capturing two of the three doubles points, Lynchburg swept through the singles portion of the program.

Sophomore Christina Harris (Falls Church, Va.) won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1, and junior Lilli Altenburg (Lexington, Va.) and freshman Emily Hoang (Sterling, Va.) followed suit at Nos. 4 and 6, respectively.

Sophomore Halle Lavieri (Killingworth, Conn.) gritted out a 7-6, 6-4 win at No. 2.

The Hornet women (6-3) won three of their four spring break matches on Hilton Head, also notching victories over Nebraska Wesleyan and St. John Fisher through the week.

Lynchburg will return to Old Dominion Athletic Conference play in a week, heading to Virginia Wesleyan on Friday, March 16 for a 2 p.m. match.
