Women's tennis sweep Sweet Briar to improve to 9-3

Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynchburg College women's tennis team continued the best start in program history with a 9-0 sweep of Sweet Briar at the LC Tennis Courts Thursday afternoon.

The Hornets move to 5-0 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play and 9-3 overall, the most wins for the Lynchburg women since the 2006 season.

Led by sophomore Christina Harris (Falls Church, Va.) and junior Sarah Wyly (Leesburg, Va.), who won 8-1 at No. 1, Lynchburg swept through the three doubles matches and continued that momentum through the singles portion of the dual match.

Harris set the tone at No. 1 singles, winning 6-0, 6-1, while junior Reagan Coon (Churchville, Va.) earned a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 6. Wyly, junior Lilli Altenburg (Lexington, Va.), and freshman Ellen Druebbisch (Jamestown, N.C.) all won in straight sets as well.

Lynchburg will look for its seventh-straight victory Wednesday, April 11 at 3 p.m. at crosstown rival Randolph.
