Box Score Rocky Mount, N.C. -- Junior forward Reggie Davis scored 20 points Wednesday night, and fellow junior T.C. Thacker recorded his second double-double of the year with 10 points and 13 rebounds as the University of Lynchburg men's basketball team cruised to an 88-68 win over North Carolina Wesleyan.
The Hornets (2-1) received double-digit scoring from three of the team's starters as junior Tharon Suggs scored 18 points on the night to go along with four assists and five steals. Lynchburg recieved 18 points off the bench from junior guard Luke Romeo, as he went 5-for-7 from beyond the arc.
N.C. Wesleyan (0-1) never led by more than five points. The Bishops' 19-14 lead lasted for less than four minutes in the first half as a Romeo 3-pointer at the 6:54 mark put the Hornets on top, 21-19. N.C. Wesleyan tied it with 2:40 left until the break, but a Suggs jumper gave the lead back to Lynchburg as they closed out the first half with a 31-27 advantage.
The Hornets never trailed in the second half, and their largest lead reached 23 with 2:43 left after Suggs sunk a free throw. Lynchburg shot 15-for-17 from the line as Thacker went a perfect 6-for-6, and the Hornets shot 44.1% from beyond the arc as a team.
The Lynchburg men's basketball team will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 16 with its first home contest of the season as the Hornets play host to the Wayne Proffitt Classic and take on Pfeiffer University in Game 2 of the tournament with tip-off at 6 p.m.
