HOW IT HAPPENED
-
Lynchburg started the game on a 14-3 run powered by three early baskets from Lang and some hot 3-point shooting, and the Hornets parlayed that into a 20-point halftime lead, 51-31. Both teams shot over 50 percent from the field in the half.
-
Wrighten opened the second-half with a 3 from the left elbow, but Lynchburg wasn't able to pull away any farther.
-
Ferrum began to close the gap midway through the half, using an extended 12-3 run to cut the deficit to 68-61 on Reed's jumper with 2:45 remaining.
-
The Panthers cut the lead to five in the late going, but Lynchburg got the defensive stops it needed and went 4-for-4 at the free throw line in the final minute to seal the victory.
