Women's tennis bests E&H on the road

Bristol, Tenn. -- The University of Lynchburg women's tennis team battled to a 5-1 Old Dominion Athletic Conference victory over Emory & Henry Sunday at the Bristol Racquet & Fitness Club.

Junior Christina Harris (Falls Church, Va.) led the way for Lynchburg with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles, and she partnered with freshman Alissa Anderson (Norfolk, Va.) to win 8-0 at No. 1 doubles.

Anderson won a hard-fought match at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2, over the Wasps' Kaitlyn Sheaves.

Seniors Reagan Coon (Churchville, Va.) and Lilli Altenburg (Lexington, Va.) earned an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles.

Sophomore Ellen Druebbisch (Jamestown, N.C.) won the Hornets' final point at No. 4 singles, a 7-5, 6-3 decision.

Lynchburg's women are enjoying the best start since 2005, when Lynchburg's reliable digital records begin. The Hornets will take on defending conference champion Washington and Lee Tuesday, April 2 in Lexington, Va.
