Salem, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's women's tennis team matched the program's single-season dual wins record Thursday afternoon with a convincing 7-2 victory at Roanoke in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play.
The Hornets improved to 13-2 on the season and 8-1 in league play with their fourth-consecutive win. The 13th win of the year matches the team's record wins total set last season and in 1991.
Lynchburg leapt out to an early 2-1 lead after doubles play, powered by an 8-1 win at No. 1 by junior Christina Harris (Falls Church, Va.) and sophomore Caroline Guill (Louisa, Va.) and an 8-0 No. 3 victory by senior Reagan Coon (Churchville, Va.) and freshman Alissa Anderson (Norfolk, Va.).
Harris kept the momentum going for Lynchburg with a 6-3, 6-3 triumph at the top singles flight, followed by wins from Anderson at No. 3, 6-1, 6-2, sophomore Emily Hoang (Sterling, Va.) at No. 4, 6-4, 6-1, sophomore Ellen Druebbisch (Jamestown, N.C.) at No. 5, 6-1, 6-2, and Coon at No. 6, 6-1, 6-1.
The Lynchburg women will continue their ODAC schedule Tuesday, April 23 at home against Randolph-Macon. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.
