Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's women's tennis team broke the program's single-season wins record Tuesday with a 6-3 Old Dominion Athletic Conference win over Randolph-Macon.
With the win, the Hornets (14-2, 9-1 ODAC) eclipsed the previous wins record, set in 1991 and again last season, and took sole possession of second place in the ODAC standings.
Lynchburg took an early lead with a pair of doubles wins. Senior Reagan Coon (Churchville, Va.) paired with freshman Alissa Anderson (Norfolk, Va.) at the No. 3 flight for an 8-0 win, while junior Christina Harris (Falls Church, Va.) and sophomore Caroline Guill (Louisa, Va.) took care of business at No. 1, 8-3.
Harris followed with a dominant 6-1, 6-0 win at the top singles flight, followed by straight-set wins by Anderson at No. 3 and Coon at No. 6 to cinch the win.
Sophomore Ellen Druebbisch (Jamestown, N.C.) put a cherry atop the day with her 5-7, 7-6, 1-0 (5) victory at No. 5.
Lynchburg will continue ODAC play and look to wrap up the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament Wednesday, April 24 with a trip to Hollins. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
