Box Score Owings Mills, Md. -- Jackie Lerro tallied four goals and an assist, Emily Dudley notched a goal and an assist, and University of Lynchburg's field hockey team cruised to a 6-1 road win at Stevenson Tuesday night.
The Hornets (5-2) reached the six-goal plateau for the second game in a row behind Lerro's offensive outburst and won their third-straight contest.
Lerro got Lynchburg on the board in the fifth minute with an unassisted score and found Dudley for the Hornets' second goal in the eighth minute. Stevenson (3-7) cut the deficit in half less than a minute later, but Lynchburg opened up a 4-1 lead by the end of the first thanks to goals by Lerro and Brittany Claybaugh and never looked back.
Lerro scored twice more in the second half, one of them assisted by Dudley, as Lynchburg completed the rout. It was the Royersford, Pa., native's second consecutive multi-goal game and marked the second time in her career she has scored four goals in a game.
Lynchburg will return home for the weekend, where the Hornets will kick off a two-game weekend Saturday at 11:30 a.m. against York.
