Box Score Salem, Va. -- Junior Tharon Suggs scored his 1,000th-career collegiate point as the University of Lynchburg men's basketball team came up short in a 75-65 loss to Roanoke College Wednesday evening.
Suggs, a Raleigh, N.C., native, totaled 302 points to this stage in his first season with Lynchburg after scoring 702 points over his first two collegiate seasons at Emory & Henry College.
The Hornets (12-7, 7-3 ODAC) were led by Suggs' 17 points as well as double-digit scoring from senior Cody Lang and junior T.C. Thacker, who each had 15 and 12, respectively. Thacker was perfect from the free throw line (8-for-8) while also adding nine rebounds.
Lynchburg fell behind early as the Maroons (12-7, 6-4) got out to a 22-12 lead in the first 10 minutes of the half. The Hornets climbed back into the game as Suggs hit a 3-pointer at the 4:38 mark to tie the contest at 30-30. Lynchburg fell behind again and went into the half trailing 43-36.
Coming out of the break, Lynchburg continued to trail as the Hornets were unable to make up ground and ultimaltely fell to the Maroons.
University of Lynchburg men's basketball will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 1 as the Hornets travel to Virginia Beach to take on the 18th-ranked Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan, with tip-off set for 2 p.m.
