Women's tennis blasts Ferrum for season-opening win

Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's women's tennis team kicked off its Old Dominion Athletic Conference schedule with flair Saturday, sweeping Ferrum, 9-0, while dropping just five games.

The Hornets (1-0, 1-0 ODAC) were dominant in doubles play as all three flights claimed 8-0 victories.

Christina Harris and Alissa Anderson, at Nos. 1 and 3, respectively, were each perfect in singles play, claiming 6-0, 6-0 victories.

Freshmen Elizabeth Teefey (No. 2) and Lauren Pascadlo (No. 6) each won 6-0, 6-1, and Ellen Druebbisch picked up a 6-1, 6-0 decision at No. 4. Caroline Guill finished off the sweep with a 6-0, 6-2 triumph at No. 5.

The victory extended Lynchburg's regular-season win streak to eight matches, dating back to April 9 of last year.

The Hornets will break from conference play and take a trip to William Peace Friday, Feb. 28 for a 1:30 first serve.
