Hilton Head Island, S.C. -- University of Lynchburg's men's tennis team opened Spring Tennis Fest with a 5-4 victory over Cornell College Sunday evening at the Chaplin Park Tennis Center.
The Rams (10-4) opened up a 2-1 lead after doubles play with Lynchburg's point coming at the second flight, an 8-2 win for Juan Borga and Vincent Oliver.
Borga and Oliver both collected wins in singles play as well. Borga gutted out a 7-5 win over Shama Kishimoto in the opening set and dominated, 6-0, to cinch his win at No. 1.
Oliver won a strong 6-1, 6-4 decision at No. 4 over Drew Arnold.
Lynchburg (4-1) cemented the victory with Daniel Christian's 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 3 and Cooper Brewen's 6-2, 6-0 triumph at No. 6.
The Hornet men will continue Spring Tennis Fest Monday morning at 9 with a match against LeTourneau at Hilton Head Resort.
