Forest, Va. -- University of Lynchburg men's basketball is ranked fourth in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference preseason poll the conference announced Thursday.
The Hornets received 94 votes after earning a spot in the ODAC championship game last season. Their opponent in that game, Randolph-Macon, earned 121 points with 11 of 12 first-place votes.
Lynchburg went 6-4 last season and reached the program's first championship game since winning the title in 2016.
Beside being picked in the top four of the conference, the Hornets are also garnering national attention. Lynchburg is receiving votes in the D3hoops preseason poll. Graduate student T.C. Thacker earned a preseason All-America honorable mention nod from D3hoops.com as well.
The Hornets brought in two transfers, Carrington Young from Ferrum and Cam Savage from Division-II Barton, for the 2021-22 season. Head coach Hilliary Scott and his staff also have 14 returners and three freshmen on the roster ready to compete for an ODAC title.
Lynchburg begins the season on the road against Methodist on Sunday, Nov. 14 at 2 p.m.
