Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- Colin Dean and Kyle Lewis scored five goals apiece, Brett Rogers added two goals and four assists, and the No. 12-ranked University of Lynchburg's men's lacrosse team bested Southern Virginia, 18-8, Saturday afternoon at home.
The Hornets jumped out to a 7-3 lead after the first quarter as Lewis scored twice and Rogers dished out three assists in the frame. With Lynchburg leading 8-5 at the half, Southern Virginia cut the Lynchburg lead down to two on two separate occasions in the third, but the Hornets' run came shortly after. Lynchburg scored nine of the game's final 10 goals to secure the victory.
Dylan Wolfe added a pair of goals for Lynchburg, Patrick Moore made a career-best 15 saves in goal, and face-off man Quintin Ricci went 16-for-28 with a team-best 11 ground balls and a caused turnover.
Lynchburg (2-0) will face a tough test next Saturday, March 6 when top-ranked Salisbury visits the Hill City for a noon first face-off.
