Lynchburg, Va. -- A quick sweep through doubles play propelled University of Lynchburg's women's tennis team to another Old Dominion Athletic Conference victory in Sunday's 8-1 decision over Virginia Wesleyan at the Crosswhite Athletic Club.
The Hornets took five of the six singles flights as well to win in convincing fashion.
No. 3 doubles pair Elizabeth Teefey and Alexa Hardesty put Lynchburg on top quickly with an 8-0 win, and No. 2 duo Alissa Anderson and Lauren Pascadlo won 8-3 shortly after. Christina Harris and Caroline Guill put the Hornets comfortably in control with an 8-5 win at No. 1 as the teams headed into singles play.
Lynchburg (6-0, 4-0 ODAC) quickly put the match away as Anderson won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and Harris followed to win by the same score at the top flight.
Pascadlo won again at No. 4, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (1), and Ellen Druebbisch and Guill polished off the victory with wins at the fifth and sixth slots.
The Hornets, winners of 12 straight league matches, will take a break from ODAC play Tuesday with a 3 p.m. home match versus Southern Virginia.
