Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's women's tennis team rolled to a fourth straight victory Saturday with an 8-1 dispatching of visiting Methodist.
The Hornets got out front early in doubles play as Elizabeth Teefey and Grace Teefey won quickly, 8-1, at No. 3 and Alissa Anderson and Lauren Pascadlo followed at No. 2 with an 8-3 win. MU won at the top flight to send the teams into singles play with Lynchburg leading the match, 2-1.
Lynchburg took over in singles play. Ellen Druebbisch started the singles sweep with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph at No. 5, and Caroline Guill followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win at the sixth flight. Elizabeth Teefey (No. 2), Pascadlo (No. 4), Christina Harris (No. 1), and Anderson (No. 3) followed with straight-set victories to polish off the Hornets' win.
It was Lynchburg's second win over the Monarchs this season after not beating them since the 1993 season.
Lynchburg (11-1) will return to Old Dominion Athletic Conference play Monday with a makeup match at Bridgewater. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m.
