Women's tennis swept at No. 18 Washington and Lee

Lexington, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's women's tennis team suffered a 9-0 setback at the hands of 18th-ranked Washington and Lee on the road Friday evening.

It was the first time the Hornets have been swept in a full nine-point match since March 23, 2016.

The Hornets nearly stole a point at No. 1 doubles, as Christina Harris and Caroline Guill dropped a tight 8-2 decision to the Generals' Taylor Garcia and Margaret Carson.

W&L wound up sweeping through doubles play, and the Generals made quick work of Lynchburg in singles as well, winning all six flights in straight sets. The Hornets fared the best at No. 2, where Elizabeth Teefey lost 6-2, 6-3.

It marked the first loss of the season for No. 2 doubles pair Alissa Anderson and Lauren Pascadlo, who were a perfect 10-0 prior to Friday.

The Hornets (12-2, 8-1 Old Dominion Athletic Conference) will head to Randolph-Macon Saturday for their final regular-season match.
