Ashland, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's women's tennis team finished the regular season on a high note Saturday with a 9-0 sweep of Old Dominion Athletic Conference rival Randolph-Macon on the road.
The Hornets started the match with strong doubles play, led by No. 2 duo Alissa Anderson and Lauren Pascadlo, who won 8-1. No. 1 pair Christina Harris and Caroline Guill and No. 3 team Elizabeth Teefey and Grace Teefey both won their matches, 8-3.
Elizabeth Teefey and Anderson led the way in singles, both winning 6-0, 6-0. All six Hornets singles players were victorious in straight sets. Harris won at No. 1, 6-2, 6-1; Pascadlo claimed victory at No. 4, 6-1, 6-0; Ellen Druebbisch triumphed, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 5; and Guill won, 6-0, 6-1 at the sixth flight.
The sweep was Lynchburg's eight 9-0 win of the season.
Lynchburg finishes the regular season with a 13-2 record -- the second-best season by winning percentage in program history -- and a 9-1 mark in ODAC play. The Hornets will be the No. 2 seed in the upcoming conference tournament and will play host in the quarterfinal round next Saturday, May 1. The league office will announce tournament pairings after teams wrap up regular-season play tomorrow evening.
