Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg graduate student T.C. Thacker led the Hornets past Randolph, 88-64, in the Battle of the 'Burg with 20 points and 13 rebounds.
Kavon James, earning his first start of the season, registered a 3-pointer, rebound, assist, and steal all within the opening 2:34 as his team accrued an 8-4 lead.
Midway through the first, Isräel Lockamy had 10 points from two 3-pointers, a layup, and a free throw while putting Lynchburg up 23-10.
The WildCats briefly cut the deficit to 27-24 with a 14-4 run led by nine points from Danny Bickey. However, the Hornets made five free throws in the final two minutes and James sank a pull-up jumper sending Lynchburg into halftime with a 34-28 lead.
At the break, Thacker had six points and nine rebounds. Thacker helped the Hornets outrebound Randolph 31-21 in the first half marking their most first half boards since grabbing 42 against Methodist in the season opener.
Out of halftime, Lynchburg quickly rebuilt a double-digit lead. Lockamy made two free throws while James sank another 3-pointer.
The Hornets continued to use the deep ball to their advantage in the second half and made nine shots from downtown in the final 20. Tharon Suggs and Thacker made back-to-back shots from beyond the arc with 15:03 to play.
After sinking a 3-pointer, Thacker settled for an easier look 1:47 later when he flushed a two-hand slam off an unselfish pass from Landon Sutton.
With 3:05 left in the game, Thacker swatted away a fifth shot and enjoyed his third-career game with five or more blocks. He also moved into second place on the all-time career rebound list with 768 career rebounds.
Jordan Parham scored 10 of his 19 points in the closing five minutes as the Hornets ended the game on a 17-5 run. Elijah Davis put the finishing touches on Lynchburg's eighth-straight win over Randolph with a 3-pointer.
Parham was one of four Lynhcburg players in double-figures. Lockamy and Thacker both contributed 20 while Suggs added 11 points with nine rebounds.
The Hornets (11-5, 5-2 ODAC) rescheduled their next game to Friday, Jan 28 at 4 p.m. against Va. Wesleyan.
