Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg women's tennis downed Division-II opponent UVa-Wise on Saturday afternoon.
After a win over Covenant in early October, the women looked to start a winning streak in the new year. Elizabeth Teefey and Grace Teefey started the day with a win at the second doubles flight. Lauren Pascadlo and Alexa Hardesty won at No. 3 doubles as the Hornet tooks a 2-1 lead into singles action. The second doubles and third doubles teams only dropped one game each for Lynchburg.
Elizabeth Teefey continued momentum into singles play winning 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. In the fourth singles flight, Alissa Anderson also only dropped two games on her way to a 6-0, 6-2 victory.
Lynchburg dropped the next two matches as Christina Harris lost in two sets at No. 1 singles and Pascadlo lost 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.
Leading 4-3, Alexa Hardesty's win at the fifth singles flight proved to be pivitol as she secured the fifth point for her team in a 5-4 victory over the Cavaliers.
Lynchburg (2-0, 0-0 ODAC) opens conference play at Roanoke on Sunday, Feb. 20.
