Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg women's tennis junior Elizabeth Teefey won her No. 3 singles match in three sets and pushed Lynchburg past Methodist 5-4 Sunday afternoon.
The Amelia, Va.-native lost the first set 4-6 and was down 2-5 in the second. However, it was too early to count Teefey out. After tying the second set 5-5, Teefey broke serve for a 6-5 lead. She forced a third set with a 7-0 win via tiebreaker. By the time Teefey geared up for the third set, the team match score was tied 4-4. Teefey grinded to a 6-1 win in the third and claimed victory for the Hornets.
Elizabeth Teefey also won a competitive match at the second-doubles flight. She teamed up with Grace Teefey for an 8-7 win. Christina Harris and Lauren Pascadlo won another doubles point for Lynchburg with an 8-5 win at No. 1.
Elizabeth Teefey's teammates set up her exciting three-set thriller with a pair of wins in singles play. Christina Harris swiftly earned her 96th-career win, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1 singles. Alissa Anderson was victorious at No. 4 by scores of 6-3, 6-2.
