Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg men's tennis lost 9-0 to Washington and Lee on Saturday afternoon while celebrating Senior Day.
The Hornets honored the careers of three players, Christian Kumar, Andrew Freeman, and Colton Mullins.
Kumar joined the team as a junior and has won ten matches in his two season with the Hornets. Freeman is a graduate student, and he has won two singles matches and five doubles matches since joining the squad. Mullins, also a graduate student, owns 17 singles wins in his career. He won Second-Team All-ODAC honors in 2018 for No. 3 Doubles and VaSID Second-Team All-State honors in 2020 for doubles.
Washington and Lee came out strong with three wins in doubles play. Levi Vigdorchik and Mullins lost 4-8 at the first flight, and Freeman and Carter McCleary fell 3-8 at No. 2.
In singles play, the Hornets played some tight matches but did not win a set. Vigdorchik saw his five-match winning streak snapped at No. 1, and Mullins fell 3-6, 0-6 at No. 2. Freeman lost at the third flight, and McCleary lost at No. 4. Cooper Brewen fell at the fifth flight, and Kumar played a tight first set at No. 6 but lost 4-6, 0-6.
The Hornets (4-9, 2-6 ODAC) play their final match of the season on Sunday, Apr. 24 at Randolph-Macon.
