Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg women's tennis beat Va. Wesleyan 5-2 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament quarterfinals Wednesday afternoon.
Lynchburg tallied the first two points of the day with wins at No. 2 by Elizabeth Teefey and Grace Teefey and at No. 3 by Alissa Anderson and Alexa Hardesty. Christina Harris and Lauren Pascadlo got out to a 3-0 lead at the first flight, but their Marlins opponents battled back in a 6-8 decision.
Anderson secured the first point of singles action with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4. The senior is tied for the second-most singles wins on the team this season with 18 victories. Elizabeth Teefey won 6-0, 6-3 at the third flight. She is the team-leader in singles wins in 2021-22. Her 21 wins in singles play ranks second in program-history for single-season singles victories. The junior also owns the eighth-most career-singles wins at 35: one behind assistant coach Reagan Coon.
Harris sealed the victory for Lynchburg with a 6-4, 6-1 decision at No. 1. She earned the victory against Alexa Brewster: the same opponent she tallied career-win 100 against on Apr. 22.
Competing in their sixth-straight postseason, the Hornets (17-2) will make their fourth-consecutive appearance in the ODAC semifinals on Saturday, May 7 against Sweet Briar at Washington and Lee University.
