Women's tennis falls in ODAC semis

Lexington, Va. -- University of Lynchburg women's tennis wrapped up its season at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference semifinals Saturday evening with a 5-0 loss to Sweet Briar.

The Hornets enjoyed one of the best seasons in program history with a 17-3 record in 2021-22. The season began with a nine-match winning streak and concluded with a fourth-straight semifinal appearance in the ODAC tournament.

In the semifinal hosted at Washington and Lee University, Sweet Briar swept doubles play, but the Hornets were close to stealing two points. Alissa Anderson and Alexa Hardesty were trailing by five at the third flight but fought back to force a tiebreaker. They lost 5-7 in the breaker. At the first flight, Christina Harris and Lauren Pascadlo also fell in a tiebreaker. At the second flight, Elizabeth Teefey and Grace Teefey lost 4-8. The juniors from Amelia, Va. won 19 matches overall in doubles play.

With the match being played to clinch, Sweet Briar only needed two more wins in singles play with victories at No. 2 and No. 4. Harris did not finish her match at No. 1 and ends her career with 102 singles win: the most in program history.
