Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's and women's swimming teams opened up their dual-meet schedules against Bridgewater Saturday afternoon.
The women defeated the Eagles 153-108, but the men fell 161-100.Â
Lynchburg's women's squad won nine events including both relays bookending the meet. Madelyn Foreman, Savy Borroughs, Sophia Schorr, and Claire Galloway swam a 1:41.67 in the 200-yard freestyle relay for the win. Galloway and Borroughs were also in on the 200-yard medley relay victory along with Lindsey Hair and Regan Leach.Â
Galloway, Borroughs, and Leach all won an individual event as well. Galloway championed the 100-yard breaststroke with a 1:08.56, and Leach won the 200 IM in 2:17.33. Borroughs scored 18 points towards Lynchburg's total after finishing first in the 50-yard and the 100-yard freestyle events.Â
Newcomers to the team, Molly Spano and Charlotte Grieve, won the 1,000-yard freestyle and the 200-yard butterfly, respectively.Â
The men saw Ahmad Woodson and Colton Schnars secure event victories. Woodson went 10:19.03 in the 1,000-yard freestyle for Lynchburg's first W, and Schnars, the 2023 Old Dominion Athletic Conference swimmer of the year, posted a 2:00.87 in the 200-yard backstroke.Â
Lynchburg hosts Mary Washington on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 12:30 p.m.
