Swimming Competes Against ECU And Barton In Greenville, N.C.

Greenville, N.C. -- The University of Lynchburg men's and women's swim teams turned in several standout performances Saturday in a tri-meet at East Carolina against the Pirates and Barton College.

Lynchburg's men's group earned a 180-70 victory over Barton, while the women's crew defeated Barton, 195-42, and dropped to East Carolina, 226-63. On the men's side, Jackson Holsten led the way once again with three event victories. The first-year standout opened with a win in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:42.14) before immediately returning to the pool to take the 200 freestyle in 1:47.57. He later capped his day by winning the 500 freestyle in 4:59.62.

Logan Page and Thomas Olson also impressed, finishing first and second in the 400 individual medley with times of 4:24.09 and 4:26.20, respectively. Henry Brooks added a pair of strong swims, topping the 100 backstroke (55.01) and leading off Lynchburg's winning 200 freestyle relay alongside Wyatt Dacus, Tyler Caten, and Jacob Andrews (1:28.93).

For the women, first-year standout Gracie Maughan continued her stellar season, winning both the 100 breaststroke (1:08.18) and 200 breaststroke (2:32.45). Abigail Schneider claimed first in the 400 individual medley (4:55.45) and helped the Hornets to a runner-up finish in the 400 medley relay.

Sydney Weeks placed third in the 200 freestyle (2:03.45) and the 50 freestyle (25.61), while Eliza Fleenor led the way in backstroke events, finishing fourth in the 100 (1:04.98) and fifth in the 200 (2:20.37). Other strong performances came from Connor Marshall, who won the 200 butterfly (2:04.07), and Ben Loughmiller, who contributed in multiple events including backstroke and butterfly.

Lynchburg will return to action for the VMI Midseason Invitational from Friday, Nov. 14 through Sunday, Nov. 16 in Lexington, Va.
