Swimming Travels To Lexington For Washington And Lee Dual Meet

Lexington, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg swim teams turned in several strong individual performances in their dual meet at Washington and Lee on Friday evening, but ultimately fell short.

The Hornets picked up multiple event victories and showcased solid swims across the board. On the women's side, Abigail Schneider led the way with a first-place finish in the 200 breaststroke, touching in 2:30.17. She also contributed to the runner-up 200 medley relay alongside Gracie Maughan, Sydney Weeks, and Sienna Schmeck, as the quartet finished in 1:51.73. Weeks added another strong showing later in the meet, earning second in the 100 butterfly with a 59.94 and taking third in the 200 individual medley at 2:17.27. Lindsay Hanks also delivered an impressive performance, claiming second in the 200 butterfly (2:29.52) and later swimming the 500 freestyle in 5:49.64.

Lynchburg's women capped their night with a pair of top-five finishes in the 200 freestyle relays. The A team of Maughan, Lilly Pifer, Schmeck, and Sophia Schorr placed second overall in 1:42.26, while the B relay of Sophia DaCruz, Weeks, Giuli Soria, and Eliza Fleenor finished fourth in 1:45.04.

For the men, Connor Marshall earned runner-up honors in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:00.01 and added a fifth-place finish in the 200 IM. Logan Page posted two strong races of his own, taking second in the 200 breaststroke at 2:15.50 and contributing to the men's 200 medley relay that placed second in 1:35.50.

In the backstroke events, Henry Brooks continued his dominant form with wins in both the 100 (53.76) and 200 (1:57.47). His efforts, along with consistent performances from teammates across events, helped the Hornets continue to build momentum early in the season despite a tough overall team result against the Generals.

The Hornets get right back in the pool when they host Bridgewater at the Liberty University Natatorium tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 25, starting at noon.
