Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's basketball team fell to Roanoke 73-85 on Wednesday night.
Piercen Young led the Hornets in scoring with 16 points off 6-13 (46%) shooting from the field. Elijah Davis contributed 12 points with a pair of 3-pointers, and Miles Taylor added 11 points off 4-8 (50%) shooting from the floor.
Despite 13 personal fouls from Lynchburg in the first half, Young and Davis combined for 14 to keep the game competitive.Â
There were nine ties and five lead changes in the first half. A pull-up jumper from Young with 1:50 remaining in the first half put the Hornets up 38-34, giving Lynchburg their biggest lead of the game.
In the second half, the Hornets were plagued with personal fouls and only made four of 31 shots from deep.
Overall, Roanoke thrived off Lynchburg's personal fouls, converting 30 of 39 attempts (77%) from the charity stripe in the game. Young, Taylor, Cameron O'Conner, Jake Hart, and Tyler Buggs all finished with four fouls each.
Lynchburg (9-7, 4-3 ODAC) will travel to compete against Averett on Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m.
